Cottage housing is a newer concept for communities within the United States, but is a historic and common form of single family housing within Europe.  This new "pocket neighborhood" sets a new precedent for single family housing within the city of Lakewood.

The primary goal is to create a compact and well designed community that delivers a clear and secure sense of place with an identity in harmony with the environment and local community.

The community is designed with privacy in mind, while allowing for increased neighborhood cohesion and security through a site design that maximizes visibility. Design features that distinguish private spaces from public spaces are used. The community’s security compatible design creates "a sphere of influence" where the owners will have a sense of territorial control.
